Anita McAllister, owner of Tumbleweed Travel, has been an entrepreneur for as long as she can remember.  Starting early while still in high school, Anita worked in various accounting positions, hospital billing departments and accounts receivable.  She continued after high school working for two CPA firms and then in 1980 began her own bookkeeping service. 

Her love for travel and helping others drove her into the travel industry in March of 1997.  Anita’s accounting experience has carried over into her travel business bringing a strong business sense along with dedication in providing the best possible service and care to her clients.

Anita attended educational events both locally and nationally in the travel industry beginning in 1997.   She earned Certified Travel Associate certification from The Travel Institute in 1999.  The following year, she successfully earned the Accredited Cruise Counselor title through Cruise Line International Association.  In 2008 Anita will be working towards her certification of Spa Specialist and will be further developing her expertise in Golf Vacation planning for both individuals and groups.  Anita’s focus is on her education and her personal travels to the locations where she sends her valued clients.

In addition to earning the above accreditations, Anita began to develop relationships with suppliers and travel industry organizations in order to allow her company, Tumbleweed Travel, to operate as an independent agency.  In December 2004, Anita joined Horizons Unlimited Travel as a Destination Wedding Travel Affiliate, which has helped to greatly expand her specialty of honeymoons and destination wedding travel.  Anita then became an independent affiliate of Andavo Travel in January 2007, a Virtuoso member agency, which allows her clients to receive upgrades, special gifts & hotel amenities, free shore excursions, free daily breakfast at select hotels and exclusive air specials. 

Anita’s personal favorite destination is Costa Rica. The country is beautiful and yet diverse.  The people are friendly and very committed to the education of their children and the democracy of the country, explains Anita.  "Costa Rica offers so many different types of travel from adventure to relaxation.  It can appeal to all types of travelers."  Some of her other favorite destinations are Mexico, The Caribbean, Hawaii and Central America.  You will want to contact Anita to learn more about these fabulous destinations. 

Anita is a 3rd generation Colorado native.  She was born and raised in the Denver area.  She currently lives in Greeley, Colorado.  Her favorite aspects of Colorado are the wonderful weather, the change of the seasons and the small-town feeling of many towns within Colorado.

When not traveling herself you can find Anita horseback riding and showing.  She is also involved in dog agility and obedience training.  She works with various animal charities and is currently involved with dog and cat rescue organizations in Northern Colorado.  Anita has two horses, a dog and two cats of her own.
